Small Groups

Small Groups are informal or formal groups of people gathering to discuss and study a particular topic. Not all small groups are advertised as these take place in various member's homes. All these Small Group studies are easy to conduct or participate in and provide wonderful opportunities to get to know you fellow CCS’ers. Some of the friendships you make out of this will last the rest of your life. Small groups usually consist of 6-10 people and are held at the individual homes of our member's. You are welcome to join a Small Group promoted in the newsletter or consider starting one of your own.

It’s not that difficult, the list below is resource material available from CCS to checkout for conducting a Small Group. If you wish to borrow these materials just let the CCS Group Leader know. If you are open to a general invite we will happily promote it for you in the newsletter.

Next Door Savior by Max Lucado

Make no mistake, Jesus saw himself as God. And he leaves us with two options. Accept him as God, or reject him as a megalomaniac. There is no third alternative. Call him crazy or crown him as king. Dismiss him as a fraud or declare him to be God. Walk away from him or bow before him, but don't play games with him. He is either God or godless. Heaven sent or hell born. All hope or all hype. But nothing in between. The cache of Christianity is Christ. Fellowshipping with him. Walking with him. Pondering him. Exploring him. The heart-stopping realization that in him you are part of something ancient, endless, unstoppable, unfathomable. And then he who can dig the Grand Canyon with his pinkie thinks you're death on Roman timber. Christ is the reward of Christianity. Why else would Paul make him his supreme desire?

Includes: Eight Dynamic Multi-Media Sessions on DVD, Instruction Guide on How to Facilitate the Next Door Savior Group Study, Study Guide for Individual or Group Study as a companion to DVD, Next Door Savior Best-Selling Hardcover Book, Next Door Savior Music CD - A collection of 13 hymns recorded by leading artists such as Third Day, Michael W. Forgiveness with john Mac Arthur

The Passion Small Group

The Passion, the Purpose and Person of Jesus Christ Small Group Study allows everyone, from seekers to mature believers, to discuss their thoughts and feelings about the film, and to find answers to their questions. It is a tremendous opportunity to invite unsaved friends and loved ones to your small group.

This 4 week video-based curriculum is built on the Purpose Driven model, and features video teaching by Pastors Lance Witt and Tom Holladay, with an introductory video message by Pastor Rick Warren.

  • In Session 1, We’ll watch the movie itself, The Passion of the Christ. It is not something to see by yourself. There will time afterwards to talk and absorb some of what we’ve seen.
  • In Session 2, Pastor Lance Witt revisits some of the characters we met in the film: Caiaphas, Pilate, Simon, the thieves, and the soldiers. As we look at their responses to their encounters with Jesus, we come away with a better understanding of our own responses to him.
  • Session 3, taught by Pastor Tom Holladay, is a biblical study of the crucifixion, the blood of Christ, and what his death accomplished for us.
  • In Session 4, Pastor Lance Witt picks up where the movie leaves off – with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through the eyes of Mary Magdalene, we discover the hope, the purpose, and power of the resurrection, and how we should live in light of its truth.

Lead Like Jesus Small Group by Ken Blanchard, Phil Hodges, Lee Ross, Avery Willis

The business spotlight hit Ken Blanchard in the 1980s with the phenomenal success of The One-Minute Manager, co-authored with Spencer Johnson. While his reputation among secular professionals worldwide continues to grow, his heart is increasingly focused on a simple, powerful message: Lead Like Jesus. To that end, he and longtime friend Phil Hodges co-founded the Center for FaithWalk Leadership and began teaching the "Lead Like Jesus" concepts around the world. Now they have teamed with Avery Willis and Lee Ross to expand their reach into churches and organizations to reach tens of thousands of leaders who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in a live event. This nine-week study will take you and/or your study group into an in-depth study of Jesus as the ultimate role model for all leaders. The Lead Like Jesus Beginning the Journey Kit includes: Study Guide, Leader's Guide, Servant Leader book, two DVDs with 22 illustrations for the nine group sessions, and a third DVD with overviews to assist the group leader.

Wounded Spirit Small Group

It happens every day. People are deeply wounded by the words and actions of those around them. And it affects them for the rest of their lives. We've all been there -- we've all been wounded and we've all wounded others. But it's time to become "wounded healers", loving and protecting the people around us. Hear Frank Peretti's moving real-life story of his traumatic childhood, and let him inspire you to choose to encourage, rather than destroy those who cause you pain. This video curriculum is designed for groups of students - late elementary through high school. In the 60 minute video cassette, Frank Peretti tells the story of his own youth - the bullying he endured, how it made him feel, and the people who made a difference in his life. His vibrant and emotional talk gets to the heart of what kids face in the locker room, the cafeteria, the library, the hallways at school. He talks to three groups - the victims, the bullies, and the onlookers. The 80-page leader's guide has explicit instructions for conducting four weeks of meetings based on the video and the book, The Wounded Spirit. Each week's lesson has five reproducible worksheets for students to take home and complete on their own. These worksheets coordinate with the book content for that week and with appropriate Bible reading. This kit also includes one hardcover copy of The Wounded Spirit.

He Chose The Nails Small Group

The wood. The thorns. The nails. Christ's sacrifice has defined the very essence of mankind's faith for the past 2000 years. And now, Max Lucado invites you to examine the cross, contemplate its purpose, and celebrate its significance with He Chose the Nails. With his warm caring style, Max examines the symbols surrounding Christ's crucifixion, revealing the claims of the cross and asserting that if they are true, then Christianity itself is true. The supporting evidence either makes the cross the single biggest hoax of all time, or the hope of all humanity.

This video kit is a 12-week in-depth study. It is a full curriculum video featuring dramatized segments from Max Lucado. It also includes a praise & worship CD featuring several of today's favorite Christian artists. Includes: video with 12 sessions, Leader's Guide, Workbook, Praise & Worship CD (He Chose the Nails)

Sermon on the Mount: The Visual EZ Lessons

Hear Jesus deliver his powerful message, watch the "Word become flesh," and gain a fresh appreciation for God's written Word! Hosted by David Jeremiah, this 4-session curriculum provides everything you need to lead a Bible study on Matthew 5--7: a videocassette with excerpts from The Visual Bible, an instructional audiocassette, and a facilitator's guide.

The Prayer of Jesus

Prayer is back! Everywhere. People want to pray. They are asking others to pray. Even leaders known for their politically correct votes to create a menacing wall between prayer and the public have found themselves captured on videotape in public, apparently praying. Members of Congress have been recorded singing "God Bless America," which sounds suspiciously like a sung prayer. Suddenly, people want to know how to pray. They find themselves in the very same place that Peter and the other disciples found themselves centuries ago. They knew Jesus could pray. They watched and heard him. They saw what happened when he prayed. Since they wanted to know what he knew, they asked, "Lord, teach us now to pray." The Prayer of Jesus is about Jesus' answer to the disciples' questions. It will help you answer the questions you have about prayer. The Prayer of Jesus includes four challenging lessons for individual study and group participation. This kit contains one video cassette, one audio cassette, and one facilitator's guide.

You might not like to deal with authority figures - most people in America feel the same way these days. As you complete the lessons presented in Under Cover, you will not only learn to like authority, you will also develop a passion to seek it out and live it in your own life. Based upon the author's presentation of Biblical principles, Under Cover will help you to undertake a serious, Holy Spirit-led study of God's authority. Your personal shield of faith will be strengthened by Biblical awareness to protect you from some of the many dangerous ploys of the enemy. This kit includes one video cassette, one audio cassette, and one leader's guide.

How To Live Through a Bad Day

These words that not only hold keys to understanding the heart of our Savior, but these same keys are effective when applied to our own life-circumstances. This Bible study is especially designed to provide applications for daily living to share and discuss with your study group. This kit includes one video cassette, one audio cassette, and one facilitator's guide.

Miracles: The Visual Bible EZ Lessons

Here's your chance to find out whether seeing helps believing. In a world of video cameras, digital pictures, virtuality, and special effects, the gospel faces what some are calling an impossible challenge. Others are treating the latest developments as a new powerful opportunity to communicate the good news about Jesus. Much as the printing press put the Bible into the hands of many. The Visual Bible puts the scriptures into the hearts and minds of people who are increasingly tuned into screens more often than books. Hosted by Pastor/Author David Jeremiah, Presence and Power EZ Lessons will guide you through four studies of Jesus' Miracles, seeking to answer the following key questions:

  1. What do the miracles of Jesus tell us about His identity?
  2. What do the miracles of Jesus tell us about the way He treated people?
  3. What do the miracles of Jesus tell us about His power over nature?

What do the miracles of Jesus tell us about His power over disease, death, and the demonic?

Parables: The Visual Bible EZ Lessons

When Matthew wrote his gospel, he included 17 parables Jesus told. Most of those who first heard these stories enjoyed them but didn't understand them. The stories provoked questions. They still do. This study will allow you to examine the parables of Jesus as a special unit. They formed a significant part of Jesus' teaching. They helped separate the committed from those who were merely interested or curious. Jesus made sure that those who believed in Him understood the storied He told. Stories Jesus Told EZ Lessons will help you review Jesus' parables and reflect on the lessons included in those stories. This study will allow you to join the crowds that were fascinated by Jesus' teaching. The presentations place these stories in suggested life settings that show us the mixed responses to the truths Jesus illustrated in His parables. Each of the parables has been "quoted" from the Visual Bible. The visual version of the biblical passages will create an intriguing start to your study of the Bible texts. Hosted by Pastor/Author David Jeremiah, Stories Jesus Told EZ Lessons will guide you through four studies of Jesus' parables, grouped by their major themes. Stories Jesus Told EZ Lessons will help your students reconnect with serious Bible study by starting the communication process in a familiar way-video. This package includes a facilitator's guide as well as the video presentations.
